Jordanian Quran Expert Hails Innovative Approaches at Int’l Quran Contest for Students

Samih Khaled Ahmed Athamina, a prominent Quran expert from Jordan, lauded the organizers of the 6th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students for the new approaches in the contest

Speaking to IQNA, Athamina, who served as a member of the panel of judges, said the presence of both the contestants and the panel members in one room was exceptional and praiseworthy

“I have attended 64 international Quran contests as a referee,” he noted, adding that it is the first time he saw the two groups sitting in one room

“This created a friendly atmosphere and cordial interaction among the students and the experts (serving in the panel)”

He also lauded the possibility given to the panel of judges to make observations about the performance of each contender so that they can avoid making errors in the following stages and improve their skills

“This was not just a Quran competition, but also an educational workshop that can be used by all Qaris, Quran memorizers, and those interested in Quranic sciences”

Athamina noted that all of the performances have been recorded and are going to be broadcast on TV stations soon

Underlining the importance of such Quranic events, he said they help to deepen friendships and unity among Muslim youths and provide a venue for them to share experiences

Encouraging the youth to learn and understand the Quran and act upon its teachings is among other achievements of such Quran contests, the prominent figure went on to say

The final round of the 6th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students was held on April 26-29 in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast Iran

This edition of the contest saw the participation of 44 Quran activists, 19 Qaris and 25 memorizers, from 35 countries
