Muslim Countries Can Be Role Models by Acting upon Quranic Teachings

Head of the Iranian Academic Center for Education, Culture, and Research underlined that Muslim countries can become role models in the world by acting upon the teachings of the Quran

Addressing the closing ceremony of the 6th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students in Mashhad on Sunday evening, Hamid Reza Tayyebi noted that the enemies have always been seeking to hold Muslim back and prevent their progress

However, he said, given the abundant resources and good manpower in Islamic countries, they can settle their problems and move on the path of progress and soon become a role model for the world by acting upon the teachings of the Holy Book

He further referred to the organization of the 6 editions of the international Quranic event for Muslim students by the Iranian Academics’ Quranic Activities Organization, affiliated to the ACECR, since 2005, and said this edition of the contest was held in an innovative way

Tayyebi noted that in the preliminary round, the contestants recorded their recitation of the Quran and sent the file to the secretariat of the contest vie the internet 

After the files were assessed by the panel of judges, he said, those who had the best performance were invited to take part in the final round

He also said that the performances in the final round of the contest in Mashhad have been recorded and will be broadcast on televisions in Muslim countries during the holy month of Ramadan

Elsewhere in his remarks, the ACECR chief thanked all of those who contributed to organizing the international Quran competition

At the end of the ceremony, winners of the top ranks in the two categories of the contest- memorization of the entire Quran and recitation- were awarded

Iranian memorizer Mojtaba Fardfani bagged the top prize in the category of memorization of the entire Quran

The runner-up was Harun Mamadu from Niger and the third rank went t Mohammad Hamidi Hana from Indonesia

In recitation, too, Iran’s representative, Mehdi Gholamnejad, was the top contender

Mohammad Ali Foroughi from Afghanistan and Ahmed Jamal Kamal al-Mansarawi from Iraq came second and third respectively
